Examinations in mathematical subjects

Proseminars and subject-specific seminars:

  • Exam registration via HISinOne.
  • Deadline: 01. 09. 2024 to 09. 10. 2024
  • Condition: You have been allocated a place in the seminar and a presentation topic in the preliminary meeting.

Oral examinations in M.Sc. and M.Ed:

  • Written registration at the examination office.
  • Deadline: no later than three weeks before the exam (after making an individual appointment with the examiner).

Other mathematics examinations (incl. didactics seminars, reading courses and oral examinations in analysis/linear algebra):

  • Exam registration or course registration via HISinOne.
  • Deadline: 14. 10. 2024 to 24. 01. 2025
  • Notification of missing registration options to the degree program coordinator by 09. 01. 2025 at the latest.
  • Submission of examiner requests for the oral examinations in Analysis or Linear Algebra: probably at the end of January 2025.
  • The submission of examiner requests does not replace the exam registration!

Modules of external subjects and institutions:

General:

  • Deadline: The deadlines of the offering subject apply!
  • By the end of November 2024: Notify the degree program coordinator for which non-subject elective modules the option of registering coursework in HISinOne must be set up.
  • Note: The examination office of the Institute of Mathematics is still responsible for the registration/registration/booking of credits in the application subjects and in non-subject elective modules (B.sc./M.Sc.): Do not contact the examination office of the other subject if you have problems!

For B.Sc. and M.Sc:

  • Modules from Economics, Faculty of Engineering, Physics, Biology: Examination registration or course registration via HISinOne - if necessary after timely notification to the degree program coordination office
  • Modules in special application subjects: Written registration at the examination office of the Institute of Mathematics
  • Other coursework: As a rule, no separate registration is required. You submit a confirmation to the Examinations Office after completing the course.

For the second subject in the two-major subject Bachelor/M.Ed., for the teacher training-specific study elements (educational science, school practice) and for ZfS courses, the conditions and deadlines of the respective subject or the respective responsible institution apply.

Exam dates:

  • The exam dates are usually announced in the first weeks of the course. The exams usually take place during the lecture-free period until the end of the semester, in individual cases also in the last week of lectures.
  • There is a three-week examination-free period in August (roughly the last three weeks of August).
  • Exam schedule

Oral exams

Analysis and Linear Algebra:

The oral examinations in Analysis and in Linear Algebra (Bachelor's degree programs and M.Ed. as an extension subject) are usually held at the beginning of April and the beginning of October - approximately three weeks before to one week after the start of lectures. Each examiner has their own examination period of approximately one week. The examination schedule is published approximately one month before the first examinations (entry in HISinOne). The examinations usually take place in the examiner's office.

M.Sc. and M.Ed. degree programs:

Please arrange the examination dates individually with the examiners. The written registration for the examination must be submitted to the Examinations Office at least three weeks before the examination.

Other oral examinations:

The rules for written examinations apply here.

Seminars and proseminars:

The examination date in seminars and proseminars is the day of the examination presentation and is usually determined at the preliminary meeting.
