Pattern retrieval in the Hopfield model; Friday, 20.12., 12:00 in room 404

Hopfield proposed in 1982 as a simple model capable to store and successively retrieve a number of high dimensional patterns, which represents nowadays a cornerstone of artificially intelligence (he was awarded the Nobel prize in Physics 2024 for this work). I will present some old and new mathematical results about pattern retrieval in the Hopfield model along with some open problems.

On Thursday, 5 December, Prof. Sebastian Goette will give a lecture on the topic ‘From quaternions to families of K3 surfaces’ (14:15-15:00 in HS II).

In the mathematical colloquium for students, topics from the various fields of mathematics are presented in a ‘mathematically understandable’ way. The lectures are aimed at advanced Bachelor's students, Master's students of all specialisations, as well as doctoral students. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for questions, discussion and dialogue over coffee and tea.

From December 2nd on, an (office) door will open for an hour every working day at the Institute of Mathematics and you can get to know one of the lecturers over tea and Christmas biscuits.

The respective lecturers, times and rooms will be displayed on the monitor on the ground floor of the Mathematical Institute!
